Gratitude can transform common days into thanksgivings, turn routine jobs into joy, and change ordinary opportunities into blessings.

William Arthur Ward

Both abundance and lack exist simultaneously in our lives, as parallel realities. It is always our conscious choice which secret garden we will tend… when we choose not to focus on what is missing from our lives but are grateful for the abundance that’s present — love, health, family, friends, work, the joys of nature and personal pursuits that bring us pleasure — the wasteland of illusion falls away and we experience Heaven on earth.

Sarah Ban Breathnach

This morning I caught myself feeling overwhelmed by all that’s coming out of my garden.  Then I stopped and reminded myself to simply feel gratitude for the sun on my back warming me as I set out in the cool morning to pick the abundance that’s been given to me in return for my care and energy in tending the plants and soil.  It might be more than I can use but that’s ok.  I’ll do what I can, give some away to friends and family, and add the rest back into the compost pile to enrich the earth for next year’s garden.
